Glen Oak repeats as champion of Anthracite Coal Scuttle

Led by individual champion Linda Brodbeck and runner-up Roz Stahl, Glen Oak Country Club repeated as champion in the Anthracite Golf Association Women’s Coal Scuttle.Brodbeck shot a solid 83 under challenging conditions at Glen Oak, and the local players’ knowledge of the speedy greens served them well as they posted a nine-stroke victory over the Country Club of Scranton team.Stahl’s 84, Lynn Pearl’s 88 and Marlene Smith’s 91 sewed up the victory.Huntsville Golf Club’s Barb Pagana tied for second individually with Stahl, and Scranton’s Sally McFarlane was fourth with an 86. Canoe ClubBarry Westington and Jim Harvie continue to rule the club. After winning the member-guest a month ago, they edged Bill Gross and Bill Gaylord in a sudden-death playoff for the Senior Member-Guest title.
